Trip Overview - During this trip, you will be able to experience 3 days of virtually unlimited diving with the great whites. The shark encounters on this trip will be very rich and natural. No chum required on this trip, as the sharks are already there!

Guests start promptly at 8 am. Afterward, you can dive as many as you like through the last dive day on which the cage closes at 5 pm! The current record is 31.5 hours of cage time over 3 days.

Guadalupe

Another great thing that we really like, thanks to the fact that the Nautilus Explorer crew doesn't use heavy slicks of blood, oil, and chum on the surface, is how much more relaxed the great whites are. They tend to exhibit much more curiosity and come in MUCH closer to the cages.

Up to six great whites have been spotted at once circling the cage and even bumping up against it in a gentle way. Having a great white look at you and swim over for a very close look provides a really unforgettable rush!

See how our 2017 trip to Guadalupe went.

Aboard the Nautilus Explorer, diving is done via surface supplied hookah with backup dive gear in each cage. Submersible cage dives are 45 minutes long and if you are a certificated diver, you will have the opportunity to make 3 dives a day. Dive time in the suspended cage and surface cage is unlimited.

Sea conditions in their anchorage are generally calm with 80-130-foot visibility in very blue water. Water temperatures are around 73F and a 5-7 mm full suit is recommended.

The boat departs in the evening for a 20-hour voyage to Isla Guadalupe, generally arriving the next day at dinner time allowing for a nice restful night's sleep before the action begins the next morning. On the last day of the trip the boat generally arrives back in port at 2 p.m. Transfers back to San Diego are included with arrival back to San Diego estimated at 6:00 pm.
