Trip Overview - Komodo National Park is one of the greatest dive destinations, and one of the MOST diverse and rich marine environments in the world. This cruise departs from Serangan bay (Bali) to reach Labuanbajo, where you will experience some of the best muck dives of Indonesia. The safari will continue on with the islands of Sangean and Banta before entering the Komodo Park for 8 diving days.
Dive Overview - The coral reefs in the north of the park are rich with colorful combination of hard and soft corals. Be delighted with the schools of anthias, wrasses, angelfish majestic, and predators like wide-reef sharks, tunas, and giant–trevallies. In the South, soft corals colors explode in variety and intensity together with numerous critters subjects.
Komodo offers a wide-range of diving experiences: high voltage current dives, gentle drift dives, colorful walls dives along drop offs, monumental boulders, seamounts, pinnacles and sandy slopes. You can also see manta rays, turtles, and sometime even whale sharks.
Currents: Komodo Park is well known for its consistent currents that provide a wealth of nutrients to the area and one of the major contributing factors to why it's so fantastic. Wallacea dive staff has a real experience of the dive sites, they pay close attention to dive at the right place at the right time in order to avoid any uncomfortably strong currents. Obviously before each dive, briefings will inform you about the diving conditions and advice will be given to always keep the dives safe. However, an advanced scuba diving experience is advised for this fabulous cruise. A reef hook can be useful.
Visibility: Visibility is excellent in the whole north part of the strait and on the way from Denpasar to Komodo. In the south it may be lower in some specific areas or for short periods.
Water temperature: 27 °C in the north. Much cooler in the south (down to 22-24 °C).

About the Trip Leader
Vijay is an avid diver and underwater photographer, who began his pursuit of underwater imaging back in the film days. His travels have taken him throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, Pacific Coast, South Pacific and his favorite region, the Indo Pacific. He particularly enjoys capturing the unique behavior of the smallest of subjects, but also the beauty of wide reef expanses and everything in between. As a member of the sales staff at Bluewater Photo, he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience and is eager to help others, whether it be to find the gear that will best suit them for their needs, or to share techniques during a photo workshop, to capture the types of images they can be proud of. Trip Leader Testimonials
"As a new photographer underwater I was excited and a bit timid with the overwhelming possibilities and vast knowledge of the topic. I wanted to prepare myself and decided it best to take a photography workshop liveaboard trip with BlueWater Travel. It was a real pleasure to meet, spend time together and dive with Vijay Raman the trip leader. He was approachable and never aloof or condescending no matter how basic my question from setting up my equipment to composition and effects. Thank you to Vijay for all the wisdom shared and I hope to get many more opportunities in the future. I greatly appreciate his time and commitment to the clients' getting their goals met."
"One of the best land based scuba trips I've ever had. Vijay did an incredible job of planning and execution. Vijay made sure everything went as scheduled while on the trip. He made everybody feel welcomed like family. Our group bonded very well so all good!"
"One of the Best Dive Trips EVER! Vijay is Awesome"
What Vijay Says About Komodo - "Situated east of Bali, within the center of the Indonesian archipelago, the reefs of Komodo are a lush and diverse region to dive. Tidal swings between the clear warm waters of the Flores Sea in the north and cooler plankton rich waters of the Indian Ocean in the south create the perfect mix to harbor an incredible variety of marine life. Komodo offers a vast collection of invertebrates and fish life for critter rich macro sites, as well as beautiful healthy reefs of both hard and soft coral, schooling fish, turtles, reef sharks and more, for excellent wide angle opportunities. As one of the driest regions of Indonesia, the weather is typically warm and dry, with lots of sun, for better photography underwater. The arid islands with golden hues and fiery sunsets provide great topside scenery, not to mention the largest monitor lizard, the Komodo Dragon that resides here, which we will have the opportunity to encounter. The area is excellent for the advanced diver looking for a good variety of subjects, from tiny ladybug amphipods and pygmy seahorses to giant mantas and perhaps even a whale shark, if lucky. It is this rich diversity and variety of diving that has me eager to return to Komodo again. "
