Humpback whale season is from August 1st to November 1st. This trip is during peak season! This trip also includes a few days of diving at the unparelled south pass of Fakarava which is teeming with sharks!

✗ Dinner in Moorea (~ $10 - $50 USD per night: local restaurant or grocery store.) Buying food at the grocery store can be inexpensive. Most restaurants will pick you up free of charge at the hotel, but the restaurants can be pricey. There is a reasonably priced pizza place within walking distance of Hotel Kaveka.
✗ Full breakfast. The package price includes basic breakfast which consists of fresh fruit, French bread with an assortment of jams, tea, and coffee. We’ve negotiated a rate of 6,000 CFP per person (~ $55 USD) for your entire stay that you can pay directly at the resort if you want to upgrade to the “American self-service all you can eat breakfast” which includes everything in the basic breakfast plus cereals, pastries, and a hot plate of eggs any style with bacon, ham, or cheese.

✗ Ferry Ride to and from Moorea ~$30 USD round trip. You can also fly, though the ferries are cheap and you can buy tickets on site (i.e. they don’t need to be purchased in advance.) There are two ferry companies:

Moorea Boat Details - semi-inflatable 24ft / 7.5m boat.
> Sept 1: There are two flight arrivals from LAX. Air Tahiti Nui lands at 5:00am and Air France lands at 5:20am. After landing, taxi to the ferry terminal, ferry to Moorea, hotel arrival, and the first first day of snorkeling begins that morning!
> Sept 1 - 5: Look for whales 9AM - 4PM (Pickup / dropoff times are approximate and not guaranteed)
> Sept 6: Depart hotel, ferry to Tahiti, flight from Tahiti to Fakarava, hotel arrival
> Sept 7 - 8: Three tank dives each day in the famous South Pass of Fakarava
> Sept 9: Depart hotel, ferry to Tahiti, flight from Fakarava to Tahiti. Taxi to airport if flying out on Air Tahiti Nui (departure Sept 9 at 11:30pm) or taxi to airport motel if flying out on Air France (departure on Sept 10 at 7:30am).
About Hotel Kaveka - Family owned and operated, The Hotel Kaveka offers great value. The hotel has it's own private dock where the whale tour boat will pick us up. Portable televisions with local reception are in all bungalows along with a mini refrigerator and air conditioning.
About Tetamanu Village - Immersed in the natural beauty of Fakarava, this boutique hotel offers an unforgettable experience. Tetamanu Village is a charming little pension located 90 minutes by boat from the Fakarava airprot, directly along the South Pass which boasts the best diving in Fakarava. There's also a spectacular house reef for snorkeling or diving.
