Scuba Playa (Playa Del Carmen)

We dived with Scuba Playa for 3 days of cenotes, based out of Allegra Playacar in Playa Del Carmen. I can't say enough good things about Scuba Playa. I've had several different experiences diving in Mexico and these guys blew them all away.

They are very professional, the van was clean and timely, and a nice lunch was provided. Scuba Playa got our group to 6 incredible cenotes to shoot photos, even adjusting our itinerary after seeing exactly which type of photos were were after.

Our guides, Cesar and Nico, were very friendly and professional. They were extremely safe and had no problem accommodating our group number and diving style. You know it's good when you have fun hanging with your guides during the surface interval.

Highly recommended!

Riviera Maya, Yucatan

I recently visited the Yucatan to dive the cenotes for 3 days followed by 3 days looking for sailfish off Isla Mujeres. The cenotes are incredible dives. We visited some of the very popular cenotes (popular for good reason - they're beautiful) as well as some more advanced and off-the-beaten path cenotes. Bluewater arranged everything for us with diving through Scuba Playa, who I give an A++. Very professional and fun at the same time, with a nice van for transport and excellent guides who worked to help make sure we got the photos we wanted. They even carried gear for one of our group.

We also visited Isla Mujeres and spent three days looking for sailfish. These are natural, wild encounters, so you never know what you'll see. Over 2.5 days on the water we spend about 45 seconds watching the majestic fish corral and feed on bait fish. It's an amazing experience but you have to be willing to put in the time.

I gave the Yucatan only 3 stars for marine life because the marine life is very specialized. There is none in the cenotes, but that's obvious. Sailfish and whale sharks are special expeditions, while Cozumel has beautiful reefs and some big life (nurse sharks, eagle rays, turtles, good macro, etc).

Can't wait to go back!

MANTA Scuba Cabo

Manta has the highest reputation among dive operators in Cabo San Lucas for a reason - they're professional, safe, run very nice boats and offer a full-service PADI 5-star dive center.

I've dived with Manta twice in the last two years, and on both occasions the staff has been very fun and friendly. They also offer whale watching during the winter months (migrating humpbacks), plus dive trips to Gordo Banks and Cabo Pulmo. They will even take you snorkeling with whale sharks in La Paz during late summer.

Long story short - Manta is THE operator to dive with in Cabo!

Cozumel Diving

Cozumel is a highly-regarded dive destination for a reason. The diving is great, the value is fantastic, the travel time from the U.S. is short and there are hotels/resorts to fit every budget and style of travel. I've stayed at several resorts in Cozumel and the accommodations/food will (obviously) vary depending on trip budget. You can choose a resort with the bare essentials in the room and basic buffet dining, an exquisite room with multiple elegant dining restaurants or every combination in between. You can plan your trip depending on whether you'd like to party at a pool after morning dives, relax with a book on a quiet hammock or dive from morning into the night.

The diving is primarily drift diving, with the first dive at a deeper reef and the second at a shallower reef. With proper research you'll have attentive and safe guides who will point out marine life like eagle rays, turtles, nurse sharks, lobsters and even the endemic splendid toadfish. I can't wait to go back.
