Socorro Vortex Liveaboard now in operation

The M/V Socorro vortex is now in operation

Offering a new level of luxury for those interested in diving Socorro and Guadalupe Islands, the M/V Socorro Vortex offers a high-end first-class boat.  A former Canadian Coast Guard vessel, this 140 ft vessel has been completely remodelled to offer luxurious cabins, and a limited occupancy of 14 guests total.  It is by far the fastest and most exclusive liveaboard for accessing the remote islands of Socorro and Guadalupe.

M/V Socorro Vortex

On April 13, 2019 the liveaboard set sail with 14 guests for it's first recreational trip to the Socorro Archipelago. One of the most amazing destinations for diving in the world! It has officially completed it's maiden voyage, and is now in full operation.

The Vortex is the newest liveaboard to be included in the "Pelagic Fleet" - which most notably is the owners of a ever-popular liveaboard in that area, the Solmar V.  Due to that, we have no doubt that although this boat may be new to the territory, it will still be managed with the same quality care that the Solmar V has been known for for years.

Beyond the standards you would expect from a liveaboard (comfortable accommodations, quality food, etc), there are a number of things that set this boat apart from the rest. Everything on the liveaboard has been custom made and handpicked to meet the highest of standards. Offering a complimentary premium bar, touch 'n go helipad,  stainless steel jacuzzi, free high-speed WiFi, compliimentary regional wine & beer, and a 240 sqft master suite.... the list goes on and on.

Destinations it covers

There are two destinations this boat will operate at. For half the year it will be diving Socorro islands for large pelagic life, while the other half of the year it will cover Guadalupe Island for Great White Sharks.

Socorro Islands

The Revillagigedo Archipelago, more popularly referred to as the "Socorro Islands" is one of the top dive destinations in the world. Oftentimes called "little Galapagos" or "Mexico's Galapagos," these islands offer a unique ecosystem for an abundance of large pelagic life. The diving season ranges between November - June every year, when the weather conditions are most optimal. Within this diving season, you can see a range of marine life; giant pacific manta rays, dolphins, whale sharks, humpback whales, schooling hammerheads, silkys, various other shark species, hunting tuna, schooling fish, and more. No trip to Socorro is the same, which is evident when speaking with divers that repeatedly go back instead of diving somewhere new each year.

Guadalupe Island

Guadalupe offers what most would consider the best Great White Shark diving in the world. With reliable shark sightings, and the clearest visibility vs it's competing destinations (South Africa & Australia), it's hard to disagree. A 5 day getaway, starting & ending in San Diego, California - trips to Guadalupe are also an easy trip to schedule thanks to the short amount of time needed off with work, and the easy logistics of simply flying into San Diego and having the boat take care of things from that point forward.
