Anilao Photo Workshops Spring 2018

This was my first experience going on an actual photo workshop. We had image reviews, which were not only fun to see people's images, but also because it made it possible to see what other participants had found and could nerd out over all the different critters. The technique presentations were also fun and informative and could spark creativity and people definitely responded positively to them. No doubt about it, every guest's images improved dramatically from day one through the end of the week. As for the diving itself, Anilao's macro kingdom is known to rival any, up there with Lembeh and Ambon, etc. If you want amazing critters, marine life, reefs, great dive masters, and top notch photography help, this trip is absolutely worth it.

Crystal Blue Resort

Food, critters, food, critters, etc, beautiful reefs, enthusiastic DM's. Crystal Blue Resort in Anilao is a fantastic base for diving in one of the best underwater critter locations on the planet. The amount of weird marine life is almost overwhelming and the hardest part of the diving is deciding what to point your camera at. Do you focus on the hundreds of nudibranch species? All the frogfish? the thriving reefs? The bobbit worms? There are worse dilemmas ;) The resort itself is top notch with endless food, comfortable air conditioned rooms, great/friendly divemasters and a beautiful view out over the Pacific Ocean.

Nautilus Explorer Liveaboard

The Nautilus fleet (I've been on both Explorer and Undersea) is top notch. The crew is incredibly friendly and entertaining, they keep their guests safe and the food is amazing. Admittedly some of the rooms can feel a little small but its really not a problem since the only time you're really in them is to sleep and the beds are comfortable. The boat itself is spacious, has plenty of camera space and of course, the crew puts you on the Great Whites. There are no words to accurately describe Great White Sharks. They are incredible, beautiful, powerful and graceful. There is no other feeling like having one of these giant sharks swim by and lock eyes with you as it passes.
