TRIP OVERVIEW

Experience the very best Los Cabos has to offer all in one day. The trips are specially designed to give guests the best chance of great encounters while taking you to the best spots in this unique and diverse area. No certification is required, as all the trips are on the surface, snorkeling and free diving.

SWIM WITH SHARKS:

  • Season: February to July
  • Departure: 8:00 AM
  • Duration: 6 hours
  • Experience: Basic snorkeling
  • Explore the southern coast of Baja, one of the best places in the world to encounter pelagic sharks. Come face to face with these incredible ocean predators in a life-changing experience. Although sharks typically have an unfortunate reputation, in reality, they are shy and sensitive creatures. Mako sharks, blue sharks, silky sharks and smooth hammerheads can be seen in the waters throughout the year, with the mako and blue sharks appearing with the colder season, and the hammerheads and shilkies appearing during the warmer season.

MOBULA SAFARI

  • Season: June to July
  • Departure: 7:00 AM or 3:00 PM
  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Experience: Basic Snorkeling
  • The Mobula Munkiana, also known as Munk's Devil Ray, or Manta Cubana have a bi-annual migration in and out of the Sea of Cortez, passing through Cabo San Lucas. These huge schools of Mobula often reach up to the thousands. The Mobulas move gracefully through the water, often leaping into the air and landing with a slap on the surface of the water. They swim close to the water's surface, making it easy for people to swim, snorkel, and free dive easily among them.

OPEN OCEAN EXPLORATION

  • Season: All year
  • Departure: 8:00 AM
  • Duration: 6 hours
  • Experience: Basic Snorkeling
  • The Open Ocean Safari embodies the spirit of exploration advocated by Latitude Encounters. Exploring the Baja peninsula, one of the last wild frontiers, guests experience an abundance of ocean life that cannot be seen anywhere else. The huge variety of pelagic life encountered during this trip includes dolphins, turtles, humpback whales, marlins, sea lions, and more. Lucky guests may even encounter beaked whales, minke whales, or sperm whales.

WHALE WATCHING

  • Season: December to April
  • Departure: 8:00 AM or 2:00 PM
  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Experience: None
  • Latitude Encounters offers guests the experience of watching the humpback whales' annual migration to Mexico. The whales are members of the northeastern pacific population, estimated to have a population above 18,000. Cabo San Lucas is located at the top of the Baja peninsula, acting as an entry for the whales and the perfect vantage point for guests to watch their journey as they travel thousands of kilometers down the North American coast.

MAKO & BLUE SHARK EXPEDITION

  • Duration: 6 days
  • Experience: Basic snorkeling
  • Experience snorkeling with sharks done correctly and safely. With a highly experienced crew and in-depth briefings before entering the water, guests can be assured that all measures are being taken for their safety.
  • When the two powerful and nutrient-rich water of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez meet, a unique and plentiful marine environment is born - the perfect place for encountering pelagic sharks. Mako and blue sharks are two of the most beautiful sharks in the world. They have an elegant appearance and sleek movements with their large expressive eyes. They do not usually encounter humans and are typically curious about us.

SILKY SHARK AGGREGATION EXPEDITION

A day out with Latitude Encounters is guaranteed to be an adventure! That's why they call them Ocean Safaris. You get on the boat, hope for calm seas and maybe you'll get to cross off SEVERAL species from your bucket list!! I went out with them 3 times. I saw GROUPS of Humpbacks breaching and flapping their pectorals, swam with hundreds of Cownose Rays and at least 1000 Mobulas. Just watching the little Mobula Rays jump out of the water and belly flop back in is enough entertainment from the boat.
When we were chumming for sharks, I got the chance to chat to the owners, Fer and Mathias, and their guide Katy. They kept us entertained with a huge knowledge about the animals and region.
In June, I saw about 3 Silkies who stayed with us for a good hour. I know you can get more lucky and have 10-20 around the boat. In March, we attracted a Mako and, the most elegant of them all, a large female Blue Shark. Swimming by us for 40 minutes just arms length away!! Her body glittering in the sunbeams. Amazing!!
They have just gotten a new and really comfi and fast boat. I hope to be back onboard with them soon!!
