Diving In Munda
The diving in Munda is very special and magical - possibly some of the best sites in the world. Spectacular walls drop off to over 600 meters. Grey, Blacktip and Whitetip Reef sharks routinely patrol, as do Hammerheads. Eagle rays, Dogtooth Tuna, Barracuda and other pelagics are also common. Encounters with any of the species of big sharks and rays are always exciting, and divers who prefer macro subjects will be enthralled by the smaller critters such as Pygmy Seahorses, varieties of Anemone fish, Spiny Lobsters and Fiery Dartfish. Mundas reefs are in pristine condition, with lush hard and soft corals and gigantic sea fans. Snorkelers will mesmerized by the extensive, intact coral gardens in the shallows. In addition to the reefs and abundant marine life, Mundas seabed is littered with wrecks from WWII, with fighter planes, bombers, a Japanese freighter and a recently discovered dump site with tanks. Visibility varies from 15 to 40+ meters. The wet season tends to begin late December and tapers off in March, although they dive year-round.
For divers who want to extend their bottom times or increase their safety margins, they offer Enriched Air Nitrox fills. Do keep in mind they are in a remote area and Nitrox fills are not always available.

4th time in Maldives, 2nd on Horizon III. The boat is a bit old but still not bad. The crew and diveguides does the really good job. The food is very tasty, a lot of local fishes and friuts. The only problem regards marine life - about 10-15 years ago in Maldives (and in many other places) there was a big problem with water temparature due to El Ninio changes and most of coral reefs died so it is still seen there. As a result we have too many boats with divers on a very limited dive sites. Maldives are overcrowded.
