Red Sea Dive Overview

  • Wrecks, abundant reef fish life, multiple macro critters, dolphins and awesome coral gardens.
  • Water temperature: 74 - 82F, 23 - 28C.
  • A 3-5mm wetsuit is recommended for summer and 7mm in the winter.
  • 7-night dive itinerary with 6 diving days

Daedalus, Sataya, St Johns, Rocky, Zabargad

  • Start from marina Marsa Galeb, come back to Marsa Galeb.
  • In one week cruise, you visit four attraction points of the Southern Red Sea:  Daedalus (Abu Kizan), Reefs System Sataya - Fury Shoal, Islands Rocky, Zabargad, Reefs System - St Johns.
  • Islands  Rocky and Zabargad are Marine parks, islands are located 40 km north of the Sudanese border, very close to each other.
  • This itinerary is a good combination of red sea possibilities: drop-off walls on Daedalus and corals gardens, caverns, and relaxation of St Johns, Sataya - Fury Shoal. This itinerary is open for advanced divers only, who made not less than 30 dives in open water conditions.
  • Daedalus or Abu Kizan. The first name is given to the reef by admiralty charts. The second name's origin is the Arabic word "kizan" which means "pottery" as there is a Wreck on the Northern side of the reef that had a cargo of pottery. At present time the wreck is totally destroyed by waves.
  • The main attraction points on Daedalus are marine life, the south plateau, and dramatic walls at the North, West, and East.
  • Hummer heads paradise is here, you can see also oceanic white tip sharks, shoals of fishes, barracudas, tunas...
  • Due to safety reasons, night dives on Daedalus are not provided at all. In the summer period we arrange up to 4 day-dives, in winter time 3 day-dives guaranteed. Claimed number of dives is not guaranteed, the final amount depends on weather conditions, a particular week, and the special conditions of the contract, if any.
  • References to Zabargad were found at the time of the Roman Empire. The name of Zabargad comes from the semi-precious stone – peridot (green with golden hue) “zaberged” in Arabic which had been found here. Mines operated in Pharaonic Egypt are abandoned now.
  • A special highlight is a wreck in the southwest part of Zabargad. This wreck Hanka is surrounded by rumors. The main version identifies Hanka as a soviet spy boat. The south side of Zabargad offers an unforgettable dive in a miraculous coral garden on a step of the stairs.
  • On Rocky, all sides are drop-off. In a strong current, you find a lot of sharks on the South point of the Island and in all conditions – drifts. At Rocky, the water's color is specific blue and has perfect visibility up to 80 meters.
  • Very nice place, a rich underwater world, once visited the island remains forever in one's memory and dream to come back.
  • St Johns is one of the famous dive safari itineraries in the Egyptian Red Sea. Several coral reefs on the southern end of the Egyptian Red Sea are collected under this name. St Johns reefs are close to the Tropic of Cancer and Zabargad island.
  • Dive sites on St John's give a lot of diversity. There are some dive sites with drop-offs and strong currents, and others are coral lagoons at 10-20meters depth. St Johns is a great opportunity for everybody from beginners to advanced divers.
  • If we have a chance and the sea is calm the boat could stay on St Johns reefs (dive sites names)  three days on the week trip. But only in good weather conditions, we can arrange dives on dive sites named “habeli”.Habili means that the coral reef starts at a depth of 4-8 meters and when you jump from the boat you didn’t see the reef at all. There are famous Habili Ali and Habili Gafar. In all weather conditions boat can be fixed on “gota”. Gota means that the reef starts on the surface, gota protects the boat from waves. There are famous Gota Kebira and Gota Soghayar.  Another advantage of St John is the night dive. Every day of the trip night dive can be offered.
  • Elfinstone - a star dive site north of Marsa Alam. This name was given by the international marine shart. The Arabic name Shagra means Blondie. If you are moored at the reef on a sunny morning, when you look at the shore, you will see a solitarily bright red mountain which is called Shagra Mountain or The Blondie Mountain. There are two versions of the international name Elfinstone "stone of elves" and "elephant".  The absence of this reef in the list of marine parks looks like a misunderstanding. Elfinstone is known for unpredictable currents.
  • The reef is located almost in the direction from north to south (NNW-SSE), with a length is 350 m and width is 70 meters. There are unlimited points of attraction at this reef and they are all related to the extremely generous reef formation and its location. You can find big marine life hanging around the reef on all sides, at different depths of blue water. On the north, there are two plateaus: on -20m and on -40m. This is a perfect sharks point. There is a chance to meet hammerheads, especially early morning. The southern plateau descends slowly till 40 m and after 40 drop off.
  • The itinerary includes also the reefs system Fury Shoal - Sataya situated in the «middle south of the Red sea, 40km south from Hamata. Fury Shoal - Sataya includes many well-known dive sites: Maksur, Claudia, Malahy, and Abu Galawa.
  • Dolphine house is located here too – big lagoon with the sandy bottom 10-15 meters deep there dolphins can be meet seldom.
  • Scuba diving here is forbidden, only snorkeling is allowed, the visibility is very good and it is possible to see the bottom and all dolphins if they come from the surface.

Weekly Program:

  • Saturday: Transfer to the boat, accommodation, briefing
  • Sunday: 2-3 dives
  • Monday: 3-4 dives Daedalus
  • Tuesday: 4 dives Rocky, Zabargad, St Johns
  • Wednesday: 4 dives St Johns

  • Start from marina Marsa Galeb, come back to Marsa Galeb.
  • The route includes Marine parc of the Egyptian Red sea 2nd zone Daedalus (Abu Kizan) and reefs system Sataya -Fury Shoal. This itinerary is a good combination of Red Sea possibilities: drop-off walls on Daedalus and corals gardens, caverns, and relaxation on Sataya - Fury Shoal. This itinerary is open for advanced divers only, who made not less than 50 dives in open water conditions. Daedalus-Sataya-Fury Shoal is very rich on dive sites and at some times not charged a lot by navigation hours.
  • Daedalus or Abu Kizan. The first name is given to the reef by admiralty charts. The second name's origin is the Arabic word "kizan" which mean "pottery" as there is a Wreck on the Northern side of the reef that had a cargo of pottery. At present time the wreck is totally destroyed by waves.

Brothers, Daedalus, Elfinstone

  • BDE  starts from Hurghada or Marsa Ghaleb and includes two Marin parks of the Egyptian Red sea. This itinerary is open for advanced divers only who made not less than 50 logged dives and is charged by navigation hours. But here you see really golden dive sites of the Red sea.
  • Red sea dive safari route Brothers, Daedalus, Elfinstone is known as "Simply the best" or "Golden triangle of the Red sea". It includes Brother Islands, Daedalus Reef, and Elfinstone reef. Brothers and Daedalus are Egyptian Marine parks since 1998. Another name for this itinerary is "shark route". For advanced divers only who have made more than 50 dives in open water. Brothers Islands and Daedelus are achievable for divers only by liveaboard. The route includes a three-night transition (from Ghaleb to the Brothers - 6-8 hours from the Brothers to Daedalus about 6 hours and from Daudelus to Elphinstone - 8 hours).
  • Sunday we make a check dive and 2nd dive on local sites and the boat goes to Brothers and stays on Brothers only 1 day conforming to new Egypt rules implemented in March 2019.
  • Big Brother. Attraction on land here is a lighthouse built by the British in 1880. The lighthouse had a simple system: a normal paraffin lantern lens. The light had been extended up to 27 km. Marine police employees which work on lighthouses normally allow divers to make a tour of the lighthouse and take photos and videos. Guests can see the lighthouse like it was in the 19th century.
  • The underwater world of Brothers is great. Both islands from all sides have drop-off walls.
  • On the North part of Big Brother are 2 wrecks: Numidia, which crashed in 1901, and Aida, in 1857. Both wrecks are covered with soft and hard corals and are home to fish, and moray eels.
  • Another underwater attraction point of Big Brother is the South plateau. Gray reef sharks are circling around and here there is a big chance to see Trasher shark, Whitetip shark, and other deep-sea fishers. Big Brother is also known as big gorgonian.
  • Little Brother. At the walls of Little Brother, everything that lives in the Red sea is expected to be seen but Sharks are the reason for many divers to come and dive on this site especially the Hammer heads and the Big Gray reef shark. Currents at this site are very confusing and unpredictable. Divers should always be aware of the down currents that are caused by the low tides at the Northern tip of the reef and the Eastern wall.
  • The next dive point is Daedalus.

St Johns, Abu Fendira

  • The St Johns dive cruise itinerary, Abu Fendira includes two South Red Sea Extreme Reef systems: Abu Fendira and St Johns, and a medium-sized coral network of the South Sataya-Fury Shoal.
  • Abu Fendira - reef system at the Sudanese border in the heart of the Hala'ib triangle. Abu Fendira is a 4-hour boat ride from St Johns. Abu Fendira - the reefs as a coral necklace: the lagoons of the virgin corals. Locals of these amazing places - Sudanese parrots, absolutely not afraid of divers, good immersion in this place gives you the opportunity to look closely for a long time.
  • St. Johns - 15 sites - some well-known, other hidden, and unknown practices are located in the Tropic of Cancer. The St Johns reefs are very diverse and usually form a separate route. The assets of St Johns are the sites Habili - Habili Ali, and Habili Gafar, the surface of the Habilis begins at 4 - 6 meters deep making it very difficult to park the boat even in weak excitation of the sea.
  • St Johns is one of the most famous routes of the Egyptian Red Sea. Under this name are coral reefs at the southern end of the Egyptian Red Sea close to the Tropic of Cancer and the Zabargad.
  • The network of the St Johns reefs gives a lot of diversities: some - with the vertical walls and strong current, others - the lagoons of 10-20meters depth - that open all possibilities for the divers of all levels starting from those which begin until the well-experienced divers.
  • If you are lucky and the sea is calm the boat stays in the St Johns network for three days on the cruise week. The boat moves between the reefs, and one can dive to the star reefs whose coral hat begins at depth of 4-8 meters: "habeli", as Habili Ali, Habili Gafar. If not, even under the condition of the excitement of the sea the boat finds the protected place whose surface of the reefs is at the water's edge: "gota", like Gota Kebira, Gota Soghayar. Another advantage of the St Johns itinerary is that every night of the cruise you can organize a night dive with magnificent lagoons with sand and coral bottom and an ideal depth of 10-20 meters.
  • The route also includes the coral Fury Shoal - Sataya network in the south but says "average" of the Red Sea to 40km south of Hamata, it consists of well-known reefs: Maksur, Claudia, Malahy, each of which deserves a dive. Here is Dolphine house - a sand-bottomed lagoon with an average depth of 10 to 15 meters where dolphins come to play in the mornings quite often so that we can try to meet them there. Scuba diving in the Dolphin House lagoon is forbidden but the visibility is absolute and you can see the depth of the surface, palm, mask, and tube well enough. The order of the reagents and the number of dives can be changed for reasons of boat logistics or weather.
  • The route is very rich, varied, and loaded with dive sites, and is recommended to divers of different levels.

North Classic

  • Dive itinerary North classic includes the best wrecks and reefs of the northern part of the Red Sea. Abu Nuhas wrecks, SS Thistlegorm, Ras Muhamed, and Tiran or Salem Extress are attached.

  • The absolute top wreck is SS Thistlegorm. These 128m length ships sunk in October 1941, in the course of the fourth hike. Most of the team consisting of 41 people escaped. The ship is at depths of 15-30 meters, making it ideal for inspection by divers. Normally we provide 2-3 dives here: first a general inspection, the second - penetration into bilges, and if no current night dive on the wreck.
