How To Get There

Most guests fly into Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). From Cabo, a private charter flight of approximately one hour and fifty minutes takes you directly to the airstrip near San Ignacio Lagoon. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a warm welcome, followed by a short transfer to camp. Self-arrival by car or private plane is also possible for travelers who prefer an alternate route.

San Ignacio Lagoon is one of the best places on Earth to encounter gray whales up close. Each year, these gentle giants migrate to the protected waters of the lagoon to mate, give birth, and nurture their calves. Guests travel by charter flight to the lagoon and stay at an eco-camp located directly on the shoreline, where whale encounters take place only minutes from camp. The experience focuses on respectful, small-group encounters from pangas, offering multiple whale-watching sessions each day. It’s known for “friendly whale” behavior—where mothers and calves sometimes approach boats, allowing unforgettable face-to-face moments.

Accommodation Overview

The camp provides two main accommodation styles, blending luxury comforts with a remote, natural setting.

Glamping Tents: Comfortable, insulated and wind-proof tents with private ensuite bathrooms and showers (hot/cold running water), real beds with fine linens, and full 24-hour power.

Luxury Tents: More spacious and private, these include all glamping amenities plus additional comfort: separate sitting area (with couch / easy chairs), a dresser/bedroom set-up, and more space to relax, essentially a “pop-up hotel” in the wild.

Other camp facilities include a dining tent/kitchen, a bar/lounge tent (with drinks including craft beer, wines, single-malt scotch), a fire-pit area under the stars, and Wi-Fi access throughout the camp.

IMPORTANT: Trips to San Ignacio Lagoon Whale Camp are only available between January and April.

Food, Drinks & Camp Life

Meals at camp are freshly prepared by the on-site culinary team, featuring hearty dishes, home-style cooking, and regional Mexican favorites. Guests enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the communal dining area, along with warm drinks, snacks, and a welcoming atmosphere. Typical Itinerary (4-Day / 3-Night Example)

Day 0 (pre-trip): Guests may choose to join an optional complimentary humpback whale-watching trip or photo workshop, when available, before flying to the lagoon.

Day 1: Take the private charter flight from Cabo to the airstrip near San Ignacio Lagoon. On arrival, enjoy a welcome drink before transferring to camp for brunch and orientation. The first whale-watching session usually takes place in the afternoon, followed by sunset cocktails, dinner, and a naturalist talk around the fire pit.

Days 2–3: Enjoy whale-watching sessions, typically two per day—one early in the morning and another in the afternoon—depending on weather and lagoon regulations. Between outings, guests can explore the area through kayaking, paddleboarding, beach or mangrove walks, bird-watching, biking, hiking, or simply relaxing at camp. Evenings feature sunset views, cocktails, social time by the fire, and naturalist presentations.

Day 4: Begin the morning with a final whale-watching session if weather allows, followed by the return charter flight to Cabo, arriving around midday. Longer itineraries of 6, 8, 10, or 12 days are also available for travelers seeking a more extensive, relaxed experience or wishing to combine whale encounters with other Baja adventures.
