From Tahiti to Moorea, our journey was filled with diving, snorkeling, and whale watching. Highlights included encounters with humpback whales, turtles, reef sharks, and vibrant marine life. Rangiroa's Tiputa Pass offered thrilling dives with dolphins and manta rays.

Observing and photographing humpback whales underwater is one of our favorite ocean activities, and is something that never gets old. Every year since 2014, Covid notwithstanding, Bluewater Travel has offered one-week trips to Moorea, French Polynesia, that are dedicated to in-water encounters with these huge, intelligent animals. Our 2022 season was one of the best yet, with five trips offering more Bluewater guests than ever before, intimate encounters with humpback whales.

The year 2020 will be one many of us are keen to forget. Heres our round-up of the highlights of 2020, and I think youll agree it wasnt all doom and gloom!

Clear night skies provided stunning views of the Milky Way over Mount Rotui on the western shores of Cook's Bay, which made for great photo opportunities once the sun had set. Until this season, I had not thought to make the time to photograph the night sky on my trips, but if astrophotography is something you are interested in, many places of the world that we visit for diving also offer excellent nighttime photo opportunities.
