How To Get There

Breeze – North Bali Ocean Resort is located in Banjar Dinas Gretek, on the northeast coast of Bali, Indonesia. The closest airport is Denpasar (DPS), about 4 hours away by car. The resort offers private car transfers for a small surcharge, taking guests through Bali's scenic mountains or along the coast. Once nearby, it's just 40 minutes to Tulamben and about an hour to Singaraja, the largest town in North Bali.

Dive Overview

North Bali's northeastern coast is one of the island's quieter diving areas, with calm currents, warm water, and a mix of macro life and larger pelagics. The resort is located right on Gretek's house reef, with easy shore access to a reef full of nudibranchs and other small critters. Tulamben is nearby and home to the famous USAT Liberty wreck, while day trips can take you to Amed's coral slopes and Nusa Penida, where manta rays gather at Manta Point. Water temperatures average 27-29°C year-round, making it an ideal dive destination for both beginners and experienced divers.

Food & Drinks

Breeze - North Bali Ocean Resort's ocean-view restaurant serves freshly prepared Indonesian and international dishes on a daily basis, with meals alternating between buffet and set menu, as well as weekly BBQ and stone-fired pizza nights. The half-board plan includes breakfast, dinner, afternoon cake and coffee, and free drinking water. Vegan, vegetarian, and children's options are available upon request, and dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice. At the beachside pool bar, guests can order coffee, fresh juices, cocktails, and a variety of beer and wine. The resort serves alcohol, but guests are not permitted to bring their own.

Dive Information

The waters off Bali's northeastern coast are shaped by the island's volcanic origins, with sloping black sand and rocky drop-offs that provide ideal conditions for muck diving. These volcanic substrates, while less colorful than typical reefs, support an unusually dense concentration of small and unusual marine life, making the area one of Southeast Asia's most popular macro diving destinations.

Divers exploring the slopes and drop-offs regularly come across nudibranchs, frogfish, ghost pipefish, and mimic octopus, as well as seahorses tucked among sea whips and soft coral outcrops. At night, the same locations show mandarinfish performing mating displays in the shallows. The USAT Liberty, a WWII cargo ship sunk off Tulamben, is also present. It is now covered in hard and soft coral and patrolled by schools of trevally, batfish, and bumphead parrotfish.

Marine life in the area ranges from small, camouflaged creatures to larger visitors passing through. Turtles and reef fish are common sightings on almost every dive, and encounters with white-tip reef sharks are an added bonus for those exploring deeper sites. Further offshore, day trips to Nusa Penida provide opportunities to see manta rays and, during the season, the elusive mola mola (oceanic sunfish), broadening the region's appeal far beyond its macro reputation.

Dive Center Information

The resort's on-site dive center is run by EcoPro Divers, an eco-conscious operator focused on small groups and personalized service rather than mass-market diving. The center provides PADI, SSI, and IAC courses for all skill levels, from introductory dives to advanced certifications, with a maximum diver-to-guide ratio of 4:1 and no minimum experience required to begin. Boat and shore dives are fully guided, though certified guests are welcome to explore the house reef on their own. Facilities include equipment rental, a camera room, 15L tanks with both DIN and INT valves, and two dedicated dive boats reaching sites throughout the region.
