Dive Information

Nusa Penida Diving Highlights
Nusa Penida is a captivating destination renowned for its extraordinary marine life and vibrant underwater landscapes. Divers can immerse themselves in the crystal-clear waters, discovering the beauty of this marine paradise while enjoying the expertise and hospitality of Scuba Junkie's experienced team.
Diving Conditions:
Nusa Penida offers diverse diving conditions throughout the year. From June to October, the water temperature ranges from 18-25 degrees Celsius, providing the ideal environment for encountering the elusive mola molas. Divers are recommended to don a 5mm wetsuit during these cooler months, and thermoclines, with their sharp temperature changes, add a unique dimension to the diving experience. The south sites boast consistent lower temperatures, while the channel sites, including the renowned Crystal Bay, offer fluctuating conditions, revealing incredible visibility in thermoclines.

From November to May, the waters warm up, ranging from 26-29 degrees Celsius. During these tropical months, a 3mm suit is typically sufficient, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable dive. Visibility spans an impressive 15-20m, allowing divers to witness the vibrant marine life against the backdrop of Nusa Penida's stunning underwater topography.
Marine Life Encounters:
Diving with Scuba Junkie at Nusa Penida promises remarkable encounters with a diverse array of marine life. Throughout the year, majestic manta rays gracefully glide through the waters, with accessibility to their favored dive sites dependent on swell conditions. The low season, particularly from January to March, often provides optimal visibility for observing these gentle giants. The peak mating season in May offers a spectacular opportunity to witness pregnant females and mesmerizing mating trains.

Another highlight of Nusa Penida's underwater world is the seasonal appearance of mola molas, or sunfish, between late June and late October/early November. These shy creatures, despite their imposing size, create awe-inspiring moments for divers lucky enough to encounter them. Detailed Code of Conduct briefings from the Scuba Junkie team ensure respectful and responsible interactions with these fascinating marine species.
