Location
For Truk Lagoon trips, The Truk Master embarks and disembarks at Chuuk International Airport on Weno Island, while for Bikini Atoll trips the ship departs from Kwajalein/Ebeye Island, Marshall Islands.
Dive Overview
Truk is famous for its world-class wreck diving with over 60 wrecks compressed into a coral reef lagoon. Most wrecks are covered with soft coral which makes the dives amazing. The beautiful colorful corals attract a variety of tropical fish to the dive sites. The diving conditions are generally great all year round with warm waters, good visibility, and low currents.

The wreck diving in Truk Lagoon was a one-of-a-kind, wonderful underwater experience. I had a fantastic time. Diving each wreck was memorizing and unlocking secrets from the past. There was so much variety. The dive profile was deeper than I was used to, so it was nice to exit my comfort zone and experience diving within my limits but a different kind of path. The wrecks are truly a gift despite the unfortunate demise and tragedy that unfolded resulting in their sinking. The cabins were great. The housekeeper made up the room at respectable times daily. There was good space on the ship, operating at half capacity. Rooms were spacious enough. The non-ensuite bathroom was not a problem. Did stub my toe once getting around and scraping my calf going down metal stairs was on-going.The crew was top-notch. They were well organized and the way it worked out with migrating divers to other teams, I ended up with a local dive guide all to myself-- what a luxury! They handled all social situations respectfully and all the briefings were excellent. All the crew worked their hardest to please the guests, and I was very happy with the level of service.

I spent 11 nights on Pacific Master in January 2023 and felt like I got to know the boat, the crew, and the diving operation really well. The boat is more spacious than a lot of liveaboards I’ve been on. It sleeps up to 20 guests, although I imagine this would be a squeeze. We were 16 and it felt comfortable. The saloon area has plenty of space for everyone to dine together, as well as half a dozen sofas for relaxing. Guest cabins are either one deck below the saloon or one deck above on the upper deck. The upper deck cabins are larger, with a window and en suite bathroom. They have independent air conditioning units and a good amount of storage on shelves and under the beds. The lower cabins are smaller and they share toilet/shower facilities on the main dive deck. The cabins were very clean and comfortable and were serviced and cleaned daily. We had fresh towels several times during the trip and there was also a laundry service. The dive deck is excellent, one of the largest I’ve dived from. I was on a technical trip so there was a lot of equipment and extra cylinders, however, there was a place for everything and good storage facilities for all our extra kit. Diving was staggered to make sure the dive deck never got too busy, and there was a very slick process for getting us in and out of the water. I thought the crew onboard was excellent. The dive team consisted of 2 local guides and 2 western guides, however, the captain also guided some dives. The level of knowledge and experience was evident amongst the team. Help was always immediately at hand when kitting up and entering and exiting the water, and I felt that safety was a top priority. The only downside to the boat was the food. It is a challenge to get fresh vegetables in Chuck, however, the meals were very repetitive - basic salad, some kind of meat stew, canned vegetables, and ice cream for dessert. There was a lack of imagination and after 10 days of this, I was tempted to offer my services to the chef and cook up something myself!

The dive professionals and staff aboard the Pacific Master were first rate and did everything they could to make our adventure memorable and safe. We were very impressed with the dive masters, cruise director and deck crew and they worked very hard from before the sun rose to late into the night. Our cabins were impressively cleaned. The cooks and serving staff did all they could to make our meals hot and delicious, particularly given the limitations on what they have available to them on island. The dive deck is a bit small when the charter is full and there wasn't much of a camera table on the dive deck to work with. Additionally the exhaust blows out on the dive deck and on some days the fumes were a bit much, so in my experience there have been better layouts on other boats. The staterooms were comfortable....we had a bathroom in ours but not every berthing did. The wreck diving was absolutely fabulous and the dive teams did everything to make it a positive experience
