Dive Center Information
The Extra Divers Spice Island dive center is located directly at the resort’s jetty with easy access dive sites.
The dive center is well-equipped with rental gear, 12L tanks (15L on request), Nitrox (up to 30%), and two dive boats. Safety is a priority with oxygen, first aid, and L&W compressors on-site. Courses are offered under SSI standards, and the center is managed by passionate divers Benny and Steph.
Underwater highlights include reef sharks, turtles, pygmy seahorses, and the rare Halmahera Walking Shark. Pristine coral gardens and excellent macro life make it a dream destination for underwater photographers.
Important:
• Due to the remote location of the resort, a valid travel health and dive insurance policy (e.g., DAN, aqua med, or similar) is required. Proof of insurance must be presented on-site.
•Due to the limited amount of snorkeling and diving rental gear available, guests are requested to reserve the required equipment at the time of booking.

Nabucco’s Spice Island Resort Reviews

Despite only having two nights at Nabucco Spice Island Resort due to volcano-related travel delays, my brief stay was incredibly rewarding — this is a special place that deserves more time. After flying from Manado to Labuha (via Ternate), I arrived at one of the smallest airports I’ve ever seen — literally one room! 😄 Desy from the resort was waiting for me, and we transferred by car and boat for about 45 minutes to reach the resort. Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by the team, including the resident managers Stephanie and Benjamin, who have been lovingly renovating the property. The resort is charming and peaceful. Though it has 18 bungalows, there were only 3 guests during my stay, adding to the tranquil, off-the-beaten-path feeling. There are three Deluxe Bungalows beachfront, and the rest are nestled just a few minutes' walk away, either via a garden path or along the beach. The main difference between room types? Deluxe bungalows have a coffee machine and a hairdryer — otherwise, they’re quite similar. There is no spa (yet), but it’s in the works. Starlink internet works well throughout the property. Families with kids are welcome, but it's important to note that this is true jungle — critters like snakes can appear, so children must be supervised at all times. Meals are ordered à la carte earlier in the day and served at the table. You can dine with others or enjoy your own quiet corner. Food portions are on the smaller side, but you can always ask for more. Bonus points for the only proper coffee machine in the area! Evenings are a highlight here — the team walks the jetty at dusk to search for marine life, and it’s not uncommon to spot walking sharks just steps from the dive center. 🦈 Flexible dive scheduling is one of the resort’s strong points, and they operate two dive boats plus one transfer boat. My dives were nothing short of fantastic — the house reef alone is a showstopper, with thriving hard corals, bumphead parrotfish, schooling anthias, and various reef sharks. It’s easily one of the best house reefs I’ve encountered. I returned to the house reef twice by request — it was that good. I also dove Kelapa Dua, which offered pristine, healthy coral formations and more reef life. While the area is not known for large pelagics, the density of marine life and coral health make every dive rich and rewarding. Snorkeling is allowed, even unsupervised, but the current can be strong, so it’s best suited to confident swimmers. Guests can also snorkel from the dive boats or request a guide (for an added fee). Nabucco Spice Island Resort is perfect for adventurous divers looking for a quiet escape, incredible reefs, and genuine hospitality in a still relatively unknown corner of Indonesia. While the resort is still evolving, the passion of the team and the exceptional diving make it a hidden gem.
