How to Get To Noah Maratua Resort, Indonesia

To get to Noah Maratua Resort, fly into Kalimarau Airport (BEJ) in Berau, East Kalimanta,  Batik Air runs a direct flight from Jakarta, landing around 8:45 AM. From Berau, it's about a 3-hour speedboat or ferry ride to the resort, departing from Pelabuhan Sanggam port.

By Air: Fly direct from Jakarta to Berau (Kalimarau Airport). You can also connect through Tarakan, where Susi Air runs small charter flights twice a week (Mondays and Saturdays), though these don't allow much luggage.

By Boat: From Berau, take a public boat (best for solo travelers or small groups, departing daily around 9–10 AM) or charter a private boat (for groups, departing no later than 3 PM). From Tarakan, only private boats are available, taking 3–4 hours.

The resort offers speedboat/ferry transfers, and our team can arrange your boat ticket and airport pickup as part of your booking — just contact us ahead of time so we can coordinate the full journey.

Dive Overview

The resort operates its own PADI dive center on-site, with equipment rental, courses, and certifications for all levels. Dive sites are spread across three locations: Maratua's walls and channels, Kakaban's Barracuda Point (known for white tip, leopard, and hammerhead sharks, as well as a rare cave dive), and Sangalaki, which is home to manta rays, stingrays, and a turtle conservation area. Whale sharks can also be seen on a dedicated tour to nearby Derawan, which is approximately an hour away.

Food & Drinks

The resort offers full-board meal plan and served buffet-style, featuring local Indonesian cuisine. Because the resort is on a remote island, ingredient variety may be limited, but the kitchen can accommodate specific dietary needs with advance notice — simply notify us before your stay. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol.

Dive Information

Dive Sites

Maratua - Maratua is all about walls and channels, with strong currents bringing in the big fish – barracuda, giant trevally, tuna, and reef sharks such as white tip, grey reef, and hammerhead. The Channel (also known as Big Fish Country) is a must-see location, with massive barracuda schools and sharks cruising past divers hooked on the reef. There is also a deep underwater cave for more experienced divers, which is home to resident nurse sharks.

Kakaban - Kakaban is best known for Barracuda Point, a steep wall dive where white tip sharks, leopard sharks, and sometimes hammerheads can be seen alongside dense schools of barracuda and jackfish. For more experienced divers, there is a rare cave dive that leads deep into the island. Above water, Kakaban has its own claim to fame: a landlocked lake filled with jellyfish that you can snorkel in.

Sangalaki - Sangalaki is the calmer, gentler of the three islands, and manta rays steal the show here, with sightings almost daily. The island also has stingrays, leopard sharks that rest on the sand, and a turtle conservation area, so turtles are always present both underwater and on the beach where they nest.

Whale Shark Trip, Derawan -  Not on the resort's home islands, but about an hour away by boat. Whale sharks gather near local fishing platforms to feed, and the resort runs a dedicated trip out to try and swim with them. Sightings depend a lot on the season and what the fishermen are doing that day.
