Selayar Dive Resort offers 7 cozy, air-conditioned bungalows and spacious 75 m² beach villas, all conveniently located near the private beach. Bungalows are made of solid wood and rattan and feature tinted glass views, comfortable beds, mosquito nets, and terraces with hammocks and sun loungers, while villas include a day bed, in-room fridge, and semi open tropical bathroom. Selayar Dive Resort is located on Selayar Island, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, with Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport (UPG) in Makassar as the nearest airport. Guests are transferred by minibus and speedboat, which takes approximately 7 hours in total. Transfers are available for a surcharge.

Selayar is located in a marine protected area in South Sulawesi and is well-known for its dramatic walls and life-filled drop-offs. Shark Point, one of the resort's signature sites, attracts white tip and gray reef sharks along a wall that descends to a sandy slope at 30 meters, while Caves and Overhangs is a popular spot for spotting pygmy seahorses nestled among gorgorian fans. Divers regularly see turtles, sea snakes, eagle rays, and schooling barracuda throughout the sites, in water that is a comfortable 26-30°C with visibility of up to 50 meters during the calmer season from October to May.

The resort serves a mix of Asian and international cuisine, with full-board and plated options, as well as a weekly buffet. Water, tea, and coffee are provided, and the kitchen can cater to specific dietary needs with advance notice. Guests are also welcome to bring their own alcohol.

Dive Sites

Shark Point – A signature site located just a short boat ride from the resort. It begins as a deep wall covered in gorgorians and colorful sponges before descending to a sandy slope at 30 meters. White tip and gray reef sharks patrol here on a regular basis, as do marble rays, tuna, and eagle rays, and the reef top is home to turtles, leaf fish, and giant clams.

 

Caves and Overhangs – Only five minutes from the resort, this 45-meter-deep wall dive is riddled with caves and overhangs that shelter nudibranchs, crabs, and shrimp. It's also one of the best places to see Denise and Bargibante pygmy seahorses among the gorgorian enthusiasts.

 

Opera Wall – A dramatic wall dive with a large black coral formations at depth and abundant macro life throughout. Divers frequently pass through schools of bannerfish and snappers, with turtles, and sea snakes also present on the reef top.

Kolo Kolo – A deep wall site known for fan and table corals, caves, and overhangs. It's popular among macro photographers, with scorpion leaf fish, squat lobsters, and the occasional pygmy seahorse in the deeper sections.

 

Opera Sand – The resort's muck diving site, consisting of sloping sand scattered coral formations. Excellent for critter hunters, with sightings of leaf fish, ghost pipefish, harlequin crab, and reef octopus.

Selayar Dive Resort has an on-site dive center, so guests can dive directly from the resort without having to travel elsewhere to gear up or book trips
