Dive Information
Staying at Sunshine Azure puts you in one of the best positions on the island for diving. The resort partners with Dive Point Zanzibar, a PADI 5 Star centre literally steps away, and their boats are out on the water every morning heading straight to Mnemba Island – just 25 minutes offshore and widely considered the finest dive area in Tanzania. Visibility here regularly exceeds 20 meters,, and the sites range from gentle coral slopes perfect for first-timers to dramatic walls that drop well past 30 meters for the more experienced. Between dives, the surface interval is spent on the boat with tea, fruit, and cake, while you drift in turquoise water
From Matemwe, guests have access to over 20 dive sites – including reef, wall, and drift dives around the world-famous Mnemba Atoll. The marine life here is outstanding. Expect to encounter reef fish, moray eels, octopus, groupers, barracudas, trevally, yellowfin tuna, and reef sharks. Macro lovers will find plenty to get excited about too, with nudibranchs, seahorses, shrimps, ribbon eels, fire dartfish, and the rare Rhinopias. Dolphins are regularly spotted on the surface, and during migration season, humpback whales make an appearance as well.
