From Dumaguete, it's a short transfer to the resort in Dauin. Alternatively, guests can reach Atmosphere by road from Cebu City, a scenic journey of around five hours, which includes a ferry crossing between islands.
A Meet & Greet service is also available for guests arriving and departing in Manila, providing assistance with terminal transfers and transportation between the airport and nearby hotels to help make the journey as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Food & Drinks
Atmosphere places the utmost importance on the quality of the food and beverage experience, with the aim to create a flexible approach to dining throughout their dining venues. Whether guests wish for a romantic dinner on the beach, a seafood barbeque, a delicious pizza from a wood-fired brick oven, a game sampler in the elegant signature fine dining restaurant or simply relaxing at the bar, the choice is yours. Healthy eating is an integral part of Atmosphere dining and all menus and venues showcase delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Atmospheres all-day dining restaurant, Breeze, has an open show kitchen where you can interact with the chefs, whether by choosing the ingredients for an Asian Wok to be cooked in front of you or selecting some local snapper for the grill. A purpose-built brick oven prepares the best pizzas on the coast. Open in the evenings, Atmospheres fine dining restaurant, Ocean, overlooks the famous Apo and Siquijor islands. As a first on Negros Oriental, it features Filipino fine dining with a twist. Guests can find traditional dishes from different regions around the Philippines, showcasing local ingredients and flavors in a beautiful yet recognizable way.
Placed at the head of the main pool deck, the pool bar is the central focus and meeting place for guests. Sample a large selection of international drinks, fresh cocktails, milkshakes, and snacks whilst you unwind after a long day of diving, an afternoon in the spa, or a day spent exploring Negros Island.
Feel free to join for Happy Hour between 5 and 6, take your meal with a bottle of wine or one of their locally brewed beers. On Thursday evenings, Atmospheres managers host a cocktail party at the bar from 6-7, where they enjoy a few drinks with guests.
Dive Information
The instructors and guides are highly trained and know how to get you the fantastic dives. They offer small group diving and the guests requests are accommodated within safety limits. They also offer flexible dive options.
- At Atmosphere, you can take full advantage of some of the worlds best scuba diving. The world-renowned Apo Island with its walls, stunning coral and schooling fish is a short boat ride away. Some of the worlds rarest critters compete for the underwater photographers attention along the Dauin coastline near Dumaguete in the Philippines, where Atmosphere is situated. The area is often frequented by underwater photographers in search of exquisitely rare shots.
- The night dives at Atmosphere are stunning, as are the mandarin fish dives at dusk and the fluoro dives where you can see the underwater worlds in a completely new light.
Dive Center Information
At the heart of Atmosphere Resort & Spa lies the Atmosphere Dive Center, a PADI 5-Star Career Development Centre offering world-class facilities and service for divers of all levels. Along the Dauin coastline, some of the world's rarest macro critters compete for the attention of underwater photographers, while just a short boat ride away lies Apo Island, one of the most celebrated reef destinations in the Philippines.
The dive center features private equipment storage, wireless internet, complimentary Nitrox for certified divers, a dedicated camera and video room with personal workstations, a retail boutique, and full equipment rental. A large air-conditioned classroom accommodates up to 15 students, while the resort's 20 x 9 meter infinity pool, with shallow and deep sections, is ideal for confined-water training, just steps away from the ocean and house reef.
Atmosphere's multilingual dive team includes over ten PADI Instructors and Divemasters, fluent in English, German, French, Swedish, Dutch, Tagalog, Visayan, Mandarin, Spanish, and Russian. The team handles all equipment logistics, from setup to rinsing, so guests can focus solely on diving. Small groups of no more than four divers per guide ensure personalized attention and a relaxed experience.
The dive center offers a full range of PADI courses, from beginner through Instructor-level training, as well as specialty courses, photography workshops, and marine life presentations.
Atmosphere operates three purpose-built dive boats:
- Victoria, a 25-meter traditional bangka, ideal for full-day and Apo Island trips, complete with drinks, fruits, snacks, and hot beverages.

Atmosphere Resort & Spa Reviews

Atmosphere Resort is an upscale resort that is a step above most dive resorts. If you want to be pampered, this is the place. The diving is superb for macro, fish portraits, and wide-angle at Apo Island. The diving is valet-style, including the amazing house reef. I told them I could not do a shore dive due to my back. They convinced me to go, and it ended up being one of my top dives ever. I walked into the water, and they brought out all my gear, put it on me, and handed me my camera. The dive masters are excellent and will find you the smallest critters. The rooms are beautiful, with all the amenities of a fine hotel. The food is very good, but not great. Lunch and dinner are sit-down and can take up some of your dive time if you let it. I did love the baked Alaska.

What an amazing experience. I was going primarily for diving and underwater photography. Very quick trip. Last minute, my girlfriend, a non-diver, decided to join and amazingly it turned out to be perfect for both of us. I have never experienced service like that, and I have traveled in many places around the world. Diving: Staff was amazing—basically ready to take you any time. Organized gear, gave formal and detailed briefings based on your desires, needs, and skill levels, and even carried gear to the boat. After the dive, they give you a hot towel and fresh fruit. There was a dive guide and a boat driver—I almost didn't know what to do with such great service. The macro sites near the resort were almost shocking to me. Not huge reefs, but coral heads and rocks with the most amazing critters I have ever seen. I would not have seen most of it if it were not for the dive guides who clearly cater to photographers. They not only pointed out tiny shrimp, crabs, ghost gobies, and others, but made them accessible for pictures and got out of the way. I was stunned by it all. If you're not into macro, probably not for you—but if you are, it's off the charts and shallow, I think like 30 or 50 feet. They are very safety-conscious—checking gauges, checking with me, and doing safety stops. Apo day trip is a must—so much fun for divers and snorkelers alike. Tons of crew and service on a really fun local-style boat. Great food, great scenery, and beautiful reefs with incredible wildlife. There were typhoons in the area, so the water was cloudy, but I still had a blast—tons of sea snakes, garden eels, etc. Oh, that reminds me—they are so detailed that if you want to see something in particular, like mandarin gobies, they will take you out right at dusk and show you where they come out for only 15 minutes per day. Night dive right off the beach was so great—guide carried backup gear, and there was so much amazing life right there! We did the whale shark snorkel, which I highly recommend. They drive you to a ferry, and the van goes on the ferry to Cebu—you really get a sense of being in the Philippines and seeing more than one place. The whale sharks literally bump into you, and because the fishermen feed them in the morning, they claim they are there every day. No flash allowed. I brought a big SLR housing—a mistake. I would just use a point-and-shoot or GoPro. Be warned—the place is packed with tourists and very crowded, but still worth it. Resort facility: It is very unusual—you can tell a labor of love. Every detail attended to, and very good taste. Food and service very good. Watch out for fire ants—they are bad. It’s hot as heck, but the AC in the rooms is great. Outdoor showers very nice, and believe it or not, the internet works well in the rooms. Massages cheap and a fun experience in a beautiful setting. The adapter situation in the room is a little strange as it’s the regular two-prong but for 220V. The camera room is fantastic and has all the electrical etc. you will need.

Staying at Atmosphere was a treat!! The resort is beautiful and well cared for. The attention to detail was very high. I spent a week at Atmosphere and could have stayed longer. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The outdoor shower was a nice touch. There are a couple of restaurants, but I only ate at the main restaurant. The menu has a good selection, but the specials were my favorite. Of course the highlight of my stay was the diving. Sai was a great DM and it was often just him and I. Most of the dive team has worked for Atmosphere for many years. That region is known for it's macro marine life and it did not disappoint. In addition, I had 3 massages with Jay Ann that were incredible. Not Philippines prices, but still very much worth it! I really enjoyed my stay at Atmosphere and look forward to returning.

Atmosphere Resort is simply beautiful. We stayed in one of their garden bungalows that was conveniently located near the dining hall, bar and dive center. The grounds are extensive and lush. Our room was spacious and luxurious. The food was delicious; the restaurant manager Ed went out of his way to make sure we had adequate vegan choices. There was in fact an entire vegan menu for all meals plus vegan specials. The staff in the dive center, reception, dining hall, and housekeeping were all attentive and accommodating. The dive center has a nice open lounge area in front of the white board with the schedule and a second white board for dive briefings. The camera room was well supplied .I loved the two large locker rooms with fans blowing in the back to dry out gear. The rinse tanks are well labeled. The crew will take your camera and gear to and from the boats which are a short walk away. The speedboats are not large, but a large boat is used for trips to Apo Island. (Do not miss a trip to Apo Island)The diving was incredible. Water temperature was 81-83 degree F. in the last two weeks of April. The visibility was generally quite good (40-60 feet). We saw many MANY frogfish (Painted, Hairy), ocellate octopus (Mototi), hairy shrimp, mouth-brooding cardinal fish, mandarin fish, sea snakes , turtles, a large school of squid, and amazing nudibranchs.I would highly recommend diving in Dauin and staying at the Atmosphere Resort.

Decided to check out Atmosphere after going on another Bluewater trip and everyone on my boat said Atmosphere/Dumaguete was in their top 3 trips. Wow! This place is the gold standard for diving vacations for me now! The diving was the best I've ever seen! I'm completely spoiled now. We were fortunate to have a guide to ourselves nearly the entire trip. The accommodations and food were also top notch. This is the first diving trip I've ever been on and haven't lost weight. My sister and I have already booked another trip for when the Philippines reopens to foreign tourists. We can't wait to go back.

Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Atmosphere resort. The diving was amazing, we saw dozens of turtles at Apo Island, many sea snakes, beautiful corals and a huge school of jacks. The macro diving near the resort was also top notch, including the large house reef which can truly be done as a shore dive. One of the best features of the resort is the snorkeling, which is shallow and right in front of the resort, and perfect for weak swimmers or small children. The staff at the resort were all very nice. Amenities like the bar, 3 pools and spa were top notch. Any non-diver would still have an exceptional time at this resort. Food was truly 5 star, a rating I don't often give for food.Rooms were very good, the standard suites and family rooms are close to the restaurant and pool, and more than adequate, even if a little sparse. Apartments are very nice and a "step up" for sure, but just a longer walk from the main resort area. The dvie center is exceptionally well organized, each diver gets a camera station in a nice camera room, and also their own private "dive locker" to put their wetsuit , booties, etc.The day trip for the whale sharks was one of the highlights. I thought it would be a little cheesy, but to see so many whale sharks up close in clear, blue water was a once in a lifetime experience.I was glad I booked with Bluewater Travel , they were great in helping me select the perfect room, deciding when to go, and making sure the resort took good care of us. And they even got me a room upgrade for free. I'll be returning soon for sure.

High Quality resort with Excellent scuba diving facility, very spacious rooms, very nice bar and swimming pool. You can choose between diving in the house reef, boat dives in nearby locations or to take a day tour to the nearby APO island or to one of the remote location such as Oslob to snorkel with Whale sharks or Siqijour Island.the diving in the nearby location is mostly muck diving with a great variety of Macro opportunities especially frog fish that are found everywhere, the dive masters are very good at finding them and are accustomed to underwater photographers like me.The staff is friendly and helpful and they aim to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The only downside from my perspective is that the only option of food is the restaurant or the bar, the food is good but takes time that could be invested in an extra dive.

The Philippines are known for great macro and wide angle underwater photography and Atmosphere Resort and Spa is one of the best places I have ever stayed. What made this place so special is that I was traveling with my girlfriend who is a non-diver, but loves to snorkel, and Atmosphere is perfect for both her and I. Atmosphere is the only place that I have been to that offers a snorkeling guide (just like a dive guide) that showed her around and made sure she got to see all that Apo had to offer. He even would use her gopro to video her so that she got a personal video. We also went on land excursions to the market, the waterfalls, downtown shopping and to the Soup Kitchen that Atmosphere sponsors which was a very special place to see. It is worth giving up one of your dives to see the kids at the kitchen and how happy they are and how dedicated the people who staff it are.Atmosphere is a world class RESORT and SPA. The suites and one bedroom apartments are like having your own private deluxe home on the property. Complete with Kitchens although the food is so good there, you don't need to use them. The well manicured grounds include lush vegetation, palm trees, a seaside negative edge pool, restaurant, Bar, gift shop, dive area and camera room with individual cubes. I can not say enough about the Spa service and facilities at Atmosphere. We bought a package that included 6 treatments and each one was unique and relaxing. You must try the Water Massage!Diving: I have dove some incredible macro and muck sites in Anilao, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea, but the macro/muck at Atmosphere was truly special. Mimics, wonderpus, coconut, and hairy octopus species were regularly seen. An house reef was one of the best sites hosting an active colony of mating mandarinfish, multiple species of lionfish, frogfish, pipefish (ornate, robust, etc.) eels, rare shrimp and tons of other unique finds. Every dive was like a scavenger hunt with the dive guides assisting as much or as little as you wanted. Not only was the macro incredible, but the 30 minute boat ride to Apo Island provided great wide angle options with an abundance of turtles, walls, drift dives, sea snakes and schooling fish. And for an add-on, you can take the ferry over to Cebu where you can swim with the whale sharks of Oslob.
