Liveaboards in Komodo - Bluewater Dive Travel

Liveaboards in Komodo

Komodo is a popular liveaboard destination in Indonesia, and all for good reasons. The Komodo liveaboard diving scene is world-renowned for its thrilling drift dives, huge schools of fish, healthy and colorful coral reefs, and great manta ray encounters. One of the things that make Komodo a popular liveaboard and diving destination is its easy access from Bali.

Labuan Bajo (LBJ), the departure point of most boats is only a 1-hour flight away from Denpasar (DPS). Some Komodo liveaboards even depart from Bali, making it easier for divers to access this world-class scuba diving destination.

There are numerous Komodo liveaboards available, ranging from budget to luxury. In Komodo, you can find short liveaboard trips, 4 nights or less, and longer trips, 8 to 9 nights, or even longer combo trips which include other nearby dive regions, such as Alor and Maumere in Flores.

DIving season

Komodo is a year-round scuba diving destination, but it's best to avoid the months of November through February which mark the rainy season in the area and can make navigation and diving conditions less than ideal.

Some Komodo liveaboards stay in the area year-round while most liveaboards opt to visit Komodo only during Raja Ampat's low/off-season, around the months of May to October.

See more information on our in-depth guide to diving in Komodo.
