La Galigo Liveaboard Reviews
jas_underwater
I joined La Galigo’s 8-night South Raja Ampat itinerary in April, which marks the end of the diving season in this region. Conditions reflected that—visibility was occasionally reduced and some sites had stronger currents than usual—but the overall experience was still great, especially in Misool. Diving is fully guided and set up valet style. The crew handled all gear setup and cleaning, and diving from tenders was straightforward with easy backroll entries and assistance climbing back aboard. Reef hooks were needed at times. Marine life included mantas, reef sharks, turtles, and dolphins seen nearly every day on the surface. We even spotted a whale one afternoon. The schedule is built around diving and meals, with up to four dives a day. The day starts with a light breakfast, followed by a dive and a full hot breakfast. Two more dives typically follow—before and after lunch—and a night dive is offered most evenings. Meals were varied and plentiful. Dietary needs were well catered for, including gluten- and dairy-free options like spring rolls, fritters, and even chocolate cake. Snacks, fresh juices, tea, and coffee were always available, and alcoholic drinks could be purchased. Cabins were comfortable with air-conditioning and ensuite bathrooms. Storage is mostly open shelving (packing cubes are helpful), and suitcases are stored elsewhere on the boat. Social spaces included a shaded top deck with loungers and a large, air-conditioned dining room with charging stations and communal seating. The boat felt spacious and never overcrowded. A handful of land excursions were included—such as the Piaynemo viewpoint, Telaga Bintang, and Jellyfish Lake—plus a village visit, beach afternoon and dinner under the stars. Overall, a great option for those looking for a relaxed but well-organized liveaboard, especially if you're interested in exploring Misool.
