How To Get There

Fly into Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ), where a member of the &Beyond team will greet you and escort you for 1.5 hours by land, followed by a 1015-minute scenic boat ride to Mnemba Island.

Dive Overview

Dive into the crystal-clear waters around Mnemba Island to explore some of Tanzanias best dive sites. With most dive sites within a 10-20-minute boat ride, plus a few accessible from shore, scuba diving is as effortless as every other experience at &Beyond Mnemba Island. Macro critters such as ghost pipefish, seahorses, and leaf scorpion fish can be spotted just off the sandy shoreline. Head further from shore for plunging coral walls teeming with life.

&Beyond Mnemba Island features 12 luxurious Bandas set 33-50 feet apart for a truly private island experience. All bandas are made of traditional materials and nestled into the islands tropical forest. A private beach lounge and beach sala are a short 100 feet stroll from the banda.

Make the most of your stay at &Beyond Mnemba Island by taking advantage of the daily 2-tank dives included in your package. With calm, warm waters, scuba diving Mnemba Island is perfect for both novice and experienced divers.

Explore the virtually untouched reefs surrounding Mnemba Island, each dive site with its own unique characteristics. This area of the Indian Ocean features a wide variety of topography, from sloping sandy bottoms covered in seagrass to plummeting walls and trenches.

Discover Rifu Bayena, a dive site covered in healthy corals and perfect for wide-angle underwater photography. Look for schooling snapper, peacock mantis shrimp, octopus, moray eels, and more. Advanced divers wont want to miss Big Wall, where most of the diving takes place around 65-130 feet so you can take in the impressive scale of the plunging wall and its overhangs. Watch for larger animals such as Napolean wrasse or reef sharks, which make occasional appearances at Big Wall.

Witness &Beyond Mnemba Islands commitment to marine conservation by visiting the Oceans Without Borders coral reef restoration project. The marine team maintains a coral garden where fragments are grown on tables and transplanted to damaged reefs.

Dive Center Information

&Beyond Mnemba Island boasts two dive centers located on opposite sides of the island to ensure an easy departure point in any weather conditions. The professionally run diving operation offers a range of scuba diving courses from initiation dives to advanced adventure dives. Additional diving experiences offered at &Beyond Mnemba Island include night dives, exploration dives, and private dives with your own boat and guide.

Please note that for your comfort and safety, a mandatory refresher course must be completed by any diver with fewer than 25 dives who has not logged a dive in the previous six months, or any diver with 26-100 dives who has not logged a dive in the previous year.
