The Caribbean is a big place, and “best” depends a lot on what you’re looking for. Some islands are all about easy, warm reef dives and shore‑based freedom; others are shark meccas, deep walls, or once‑in‑a‑lifetime animal encounters. Over the years I’ve dived most of the major islands on this list, and what follows are 12 places I’d happily return to – for very different reasons.
