Dive Overview
Scuba diving in Indonesia is simply a must for any diver. Hosting over25% of the worlds fish species, as well as over 72% of the worldwide coral species, Indonesia is often cited as the world's epicenter of biodiversity with the greatest marine life variety ever recorded on earth, alongside the Philippines and a small number of other Coral Triangle destinations.
Diving in Raja Ampat is characterized by its mind blowing diversity, featuring a plethora of medium to large size fish, good macro, and great hard and soft coral reefs, along with some muck and mangrove sites. The water temperatures hover at around 89F (31C) year-round--so warm that a wetsuit is hardly needed. The archipelago's topside scenery is also stunning.
You'll find one of the highest numbers of fish species of any place on the planet when diving in Raja Ampat, making it one of our top 5 underwater photography destinations. This area also hosts some of the world's most beautiful coral reefs.

ITINERARY INFORMATION
Detailed information about the itinerary
Raja Ampat (Central, North & South) 13D&12N
Raja Ampat, often called the “Crown Jewel of Indonesia,” is made up of over 1,500 islands where jungle meets turquoise seas. Known as the planet’s most biodiverse marine region, it’s a paradise for ocean lovers and adventurers. Snorkel over vibrant coral reefs, dive alongside manta rays, trek to stunning viewpoints, visit local villages, or wake early to spot the bird of paradise. Each day brings new experiences at a relaxed pace. Kayak through hidden lagoons, unwind on white-sand beaches, and end the day with golden sunsets, dinner under the stars, and the gentle sway of the sea.
DAY 1: Welcome Aboard- Arrive in Sorong and transfer to your Phinisi liveaboard at Waisai. Settle in, enjoy lunch, and explore your surroundings.
- After breakfast, complete formalities at Waisai and start sailing south. End the day with a sunset drink while watching fruit bats.
- Discover sparkling waters, islets, sandbanks, and a WWII aircraft wreck. Walk to a refreshing waterfall on land.
- Relax on the sun deck as the boat sails south toward Misool, soaking in the peaceful scenery.
- The Daram Islands are the easternmost island group in the Misool area. Thanks to a strict no-fishing policy, you will be able to see some of the most impressive sea fan forests and soft corals known to the world.
- With easy snorkelling and diving, sites such as Andiamo or Candy Store are truly psychedelic underwater wonderlands where its not uncommon to see barracudas gliding above pygmy seahorses.
- Swim round the famous dive sites of Boo Window and Magic Mountain, with some of the highest concentrations of biodiversity in the world, a true story of successful conservation, thanks to the talented and friendly local park rangers who are happy to meet you on the white sandy beaches of Yillet Island.
- South East Misool is one of these extremely rare places where dreams and reality merge, with scenery as lush and dramatic above the water as below.
- Feel the love around you after climbing to get a bird’s eye view of the famous heart-shaped blue lagoon encircled by the vibrant coral reefs.
- Alternatively, you can take a speed boat tour or your kayak to get lost in the maze of rocks and channels of Wayil Islands
- Here lie some of the most iconic and lush dive sites of Raja Ampat: Wedding Cake, Four Kings or Neptune’s Fantasea. End your day with your flashlight on to explore the dark side of the reef: night dive!
- Misool North Eastern line of islands is a natural labyrinth made of cone- shaped rocks, sheer cliffs and hidden pools. At the right time of year, some of the inner lagoons play host to thousands of stingless jellyfish, offering fantastic photo opportunities for undersea photo lovers.
- Explore the above and underwater caves of the area where nudibranchs, rare mollusks and crustaceans crawl on the rich soft coral cover.
- At this Western tip of Central Raja Ampat, discover Keruo Channel and Melissa’s Garden, where you can observe the most impressive shallow coral gardens on the planet.
- In between dives, you can also enjoy surface activities, go kayaking, or walk up to the top of the hill above the Star Lagoon and look down on the hundreds of limestone rocks. You wont be able to resist going for a dip in a hidden rock pool sheer heaven!
- South Kawe is one of Raja Ampats greatest treasures. Here, you are likely to see manta rays grooming in one of their many cleaning stations or feeding on the surface of the channel between the two Eagle Rocks.
- You will also get the opportunity to visit Aljuy Bay where you can learn everything about pearl farming, from seeding to harvesting. The Aljuy Bay waters are also perfect for seeing rare sea creatures and for wonderfully rich night dives.
- On the way to the Wayag Islands, we cross the equator to the northern hemisphere to reach the last paradise on earth, a large bay with hundreds of mushroom-like islets, white sandy beaches, black tip reef sharks and manta rays cruising in the turquoise-blue water.
- Spend a day gliding through this piece of heaven or climb the rocky Mount Pindito for an unforgettable view. Dive or swim around pelagic fish and the Figure 8 Rock and enjoy wonderful moments on an unspoiled beach.
- Continue your adventure with a day at Yanggefo and take the kayak out to the mangroves for a change of scenery. The contrast of the lush green mangrove forest and the clear waters is breath-taking. This area is home to throngs of birds as well as fish.
- Colourful coral grows within the roots of the trees making snorkelling and diving in Citrus and Mangrove Ridge a unique experience.
- Visit Airborek or Sawandarek Jetty and experience some world-class diving, probably under the gaze of some local children!
- Then cruise on to more fish-rich waters like Sardine Reef or Cape Kri and enjoy a fantastic night dive at Batu Lima where you are likely to spot the elusive walking shark!
- In the early morning, you will sail east to Mayalibit Bay A short speedboat ride will take you through the lush Papuan jungle all the way to ‘ Kali Biru ‘ – a natural spring where you can bathe in crystal freshwater, surrounded by the incredible nature of the bay - well protected by its local and dedicated community.
- You will therefore enjoy a small waterfall hidden in the jungle with 3 different levels, the perfect and safe place to explore with kids.
- After this experience, you will spend the rest of the afternoon on the island of Mioskon where it’s not rare to see fruit bats flying at sunset.
- Later that evening, you will sail back to Sorong to arrive early morning.

- Here, the diving will not disappoint with three world-famous dive sites and shark hotspots for you to enjoy: Castle Rock, Crystal Rock and the Cauldron. You'll find it difficult to resist grabbing a paddle board or kayak to glide over these turquoise waters before enjoying a well-deserved drink at sunset.

Days are filled with snorkeling, diving with manta rays, trekking to viewpoints, or visiting local villages, while afternoons and evenings invite kayaking, beach relaxation, and golden sunsets, offering a perfect balance of adventure and tranquility.
DAY 1: Sorong/Saonek Kecil (Embarkation)- Upon arrival, our crew will greet you at the airport or your hotel and arrange your transfer for embarkation. After a warm welcome aboard and lunch, you’ll explore your surroundings before arriving at Pulau Saonek Kecil, an ideal introduction to Raja Ampat’s marine life and scenery. Enjoy a check-dive to familiarize yourself with the equipment and waters, then return on board to rinse off and savor a delicious dinner as the first day winds down.
- Start the day exploring some of Raja Ampat’s most exciting dive sites. After breakfast, dive into Blue Magic, a sea mound with a submerged plateau around 6m, home to swirling big-eyed trevally and occasional Oceanic manta rays. Nearby Mioskon Reef offers strong currents where various fish play, and keen-eyed guides may point out Wobbegong sharks hiding beneath the plate corals.
- After a replenishing lunch, continue to the world-renowned Cape Kri, made famous by Dr. Gerald Allen for its incredible biodiversity. This site holds one of the highest species counts ever recorded on a single dive, with over 370 species spotted in 90 minutes, offering an unforgettable experience for divers of all levels.
- Wake up in Piaynemo, home to some of Central Raja Ampat’s richest marine sites. Dive at iconic spots like Melissa’s Garden, with its vibrant corals and schooling fish, or My Reef, a fully submerged site with strong currents where you might spot whitetip sharks, trevally, or Wobbegong sharks resting on the plateau. After lunch, explore Batu Rufus, observing yellow snapper, hawksbill turtles, and colourful soft sponge corals during your safety stop.
- In the late afternoon, venture behind the dramatic cone-shaped mountains for a short hike to a raised viewing platform, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Raja Ampat’s iconic landscape. Return on board as the sun sets, enjoying a refreshing drink and the enticing aroma of dinner waiting for you.
- Wake up to the pristine scenery of Daram, a remote extension of the marine reserve with no permanent inhabitants. Explore dive sites like Candy Store, Andiamo, and Warna Berwana, where healthy sea fans and table corals abound and schools of yellow snapper and barracuda scatter in this rarely visited area.
- In the afternoon, sail to Yillet for dives or snorkels at Romeo and Juliette, saving one for an unforgettable night dive. As dusk falls, discover critters nestled among soft corals, with a chance to spot the Epaulette, or walking, shark. Return on board to warm towels, dinner, and share stories of the day’s underwater encounters.
Pulau Boo is a long, slender island offering something remarkable along every stretch. At its eastern tip lies Magic Mountain (locally Karrang Bayangan, or “shadow reef”), known for oceanic manta rays that cast shadows over the reef, as well as a rich diversity of marine life that makes every dive unforgettable.
Nearby Boo Window features a semi-submerged arch where divers drift along sloping ridges and steep walls, passing enormous fan corals, barrel sponges, and reef sharks. Swim through schools of snapper, hunt for pygmy seahorses, and explore other nearby sites—Pulau Boo never fails to leave lasting memories.
- Heading west along the island chain brings you to Fiabacet, where standout dive sites like Whale Rock, Tank Rock, and Nudi Rock offer incredible underwater diversity. Each site features unique formations—sloping reefs, ridges, plateaus, and pinnacles—teeming with healthy coral, schooling fish, and the occasional grey reef shark.
- Drift along the currents at Whale Rock, explore the intricate topography of Nudi Rock, or dive beside Tank Rock to witness fish dancing against the flow. After a day of exploring, relax on a sunbed with a coconut in hand before enjoying a hearty meal and a comfortable night’s rest aboard.
Today offers incredible experiences both above and below the water. Dive sites like Barracuda Rock, Birthday Cake, and Neptune Fan Sea each showcase unique underwater landscapes, from sloping ridges and fan corals to shallow areas with grazing turtles and schools of butterflyfish.
- Above water, explore the iconic Love Lagoon by taking a short walk to the heart-shaped viewpoint or paddling across shallow coral reefs by kayak or paddle board. With secluded beaches and peaceful surroundings, you can relax in privacy before returning to the boat to end a perfect day of exploration.
- On your final full day aboard, there are plenty of non-diving activities to enjoy during the required decompression time. In the morning, visit Goa Karamat, a flooded cave where you can swim under stalactites into fading light or, for the adventurous, climb through to a hidden tropical swimming hole. On the way back, pass by historic cave paintings, believed to have been created by Aboriginal Australians when the landmasses were still connected.
- In the afternoon, take a trek to one of the Jellyfish Lakes, home to thousands of stingless jellyfish under the right conditions—a truly unique natural wonder. As evening falls, relax on the beach with a cocktail in hand, Majik in the background, and the aroma of a BBQ filling the air. Swap stories of your journey and favorite moments before retiring for your final night aboard.
- On your final morning, return to Sorong for disembarkation and enjoy a relaxed breakfast before preparing to leave the vessel. Our crew will assist with your luggage and escort you to the airport or a nearby hotel, ensuring a smooth transition to your next destination. While this marks the end of your journey, we look forward to welcoming you back aboard in the future.
