Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa is located on Thilamaafushi Island in the Lhaviyani Atoll, about 140 km from the nearest town or city, with Velana International Airport (MLE) as the closest airport. The resort doesn't offer road or boat shuttle service; instead, guests arrive by seaplane which takes about 35 minutes. Transfers are available for a surcharge.

Because seaplane transfers are the only option, flight timing matters: arriving flights should land by 3:30 PM, and departing flights should leave no earlier than 9:00 AM, as the last seaplane usually departs between 2:00 and 3:00 PM

The Lhaviyani Atoll is home to over 50 renowned dive sites, attracting divers from all over the world to explore its thriving coral reefs and diverse marine life. Scuba Schools International (SSI) chose Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa to film their latest training videos, highlighting the exceptional conditions in these waters. Today, guests dive the same reefs that SSI professionals train on, including the resort's own house reef, which is home to green and hawksbill turtles, rays, and shoals of tropical fish. Each excursion is led by on-site dive partner Sub Oceanic Maldives.

The resort serves international cuisine, with meals offered à la carte in five restaurants and bars, including Japanese fine dining at Tabemasu, Mediterranean flavors at Riviera, and grilled specialties at Velaa Bar + Grill. Guests with dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice. Outside alcohol is not permitted. Meal plans range from bed and breakfast to half-board, full-board, and all-inclusive, allowing guests to select the level of dining that best suits their needs.

Le Méridien Maldives is located in Lhaviyani Atoll, which is widely regarded as one of the best atolls in the Maldives for scuba diving and home to more than 30 dive sites, including a protected National Park. The resort's own house reef is considered one of the top dive sites in the country, known for its exceptional biodiversity and the largest turtle population in the Maldives. Divers frequently encounter manta rays, sharks, eagle rays, and Napoleon wrasse, both at the house reef and in the atoll's channel sites, or "kandus," where nutrient-rich currents attract larger marine life.

Water stays warm year-round at around 30°C (86°F), making diving enjoyable in any season. Visibility and manta ray sightings are generally best from May to December, while shark encounters are more common between December and April.

The resort's on-site dive center, Sub Oceanic Maldives, manages diving and watersports at Le Méridien Maldives. The center is located directly on the arrival jetty, just steps away from the resort's house reef, and dive boats leave from its doorstep.  A separate Watersports Center is located on the main beach next to Velaa Bar + Grill, while a Marine Center is situated between the Kids Club and Riviera Bar.

The center offers diving for all skill levels, from first-time Try Scuba sessions with no prior experience required to SSI-certified courses (Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver, and beyond) taught by qualified instructors, typically on a one-on-one or small-group basis for beginners. Certified nitrox is provided for free, and all dive trips include the ENOS diver safety system. Every activity can be scheduled as a group or private session, with photo and video options and female guides available upon request.
