How To Get There

The most convenient way to reach Alaia Belize is by taking a 15-minute flight from the Belize International Aiport (BZE) to the San Pedro Airstrip (SPR.) From there, transportation to the hotel is provided free of charge. The hotel staff can also assist guests with booking the transfer flights.

Dive Overview

Scuba diving in Belize is very colorful as part of the second largest barrier reef stretches out all the way to Belize. All the colorful sponges and Caribbean fish are effortlessly enjoyable as diving in Belize is relatively easy. Most dives are characteristic of easy Caribbean diving, with deeper reefs at 80-100ft, and shallow reefs at 20-40ft. Unlike diving in Cozumel, there is very little drift diving, and shore diving is almost unheard of due to the fringing reef. It is great for beginner divers but also offers some exciting dive sites for more advanced scuba divers.

Beneath the turquoise sea of Belize is an underwater world that exceeds every other Caribbean dive destination in diversity, size and scope. The total diving area is absolutely immense. Stretching the entire length of the country from the Yucatan Peninsula to the Gulf of Honduras, more than 185 miles North to South, the Belize Barrier Reef system is the greatest expanse of coral in the Western Hemisphere. Underwater Belize is home to an extensive ecosystem comprising shimmering schools of fish, colorful sponges, coral of all shapes, dolphins, sharks, manatees and sea turtles. Youll also find three of the Caribbeans four atolls, Lighthouse Reef Atoll, Turneffe Islands Atoll and Glovers Reef Atoll; together, these enormous rings of coral are as big as the Belize Barrier Reef!

Dive Center Information

Located on 1,000 feet of Mar de Tumbo beach and just 600 yards from the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve, Alaia Belize is strategically positioned to ensure that guests experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity exploring the second largest reef system in the world. The on-site dive shop is is a 5 star PADI dive center dedicated to provide the utmost service to its guests and can help organize scuba diving, snorkeling, and other excusions.

Including the Hol-Chan Natural Reserve, there are over 20 dive sites within 5 to 10 minutes of the Alaia Dock. The barrier reef, a UNESCO world heritage site, is also located just about 1/2 miles from the property. Extending from Mexico to the bottom of Belize and Guatemala, this is the second longest barrier reef in the world.
