Rarotonga, Cook Islands Review
RAROTONGA, COOK ISLANDS REVIEW
I loved Raro not only for the diving, but the island and its people. Being only 36 klms in circumference if is pretty easy to get around. Many people hire scooters but we took advantage of the two local buses...one travels around the island in a clockwise direction and the other travels counter-clockwise. We jumped aboard and got off where we wanted to look around and walked. On our off gas day we hired a car to take in some of the other sights. There are quite a lot of dive sites and for such a small island there were 4 dive operators. The coral gardens and marine life was abundant and healthy - the visibility was awesome! 40 metres plus! The weather was perfect as it is most of the year although when the wind picks up choppy conditions were too much for our dive operators on one occasion and our last dive day was cancelled. Sandy beaches to walk on and watch the humpbacks playing in the sunset after a long day's dive was the most romantic end to every day. I'd love to go back.
