Cozumel Palace
We traveled to Cozumel in 2013 and stayed at the Cozumel Palace. We've been to Cozumel several times over the last few years but this was our first stay at the Palace. I would definitely describe the Palace as an upscale resort. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We stayed in an ocean view junior suite that had a sitting room, Jacuzzi tub, and a large shower in the bathroom. Each room also had a safe. The Palace is an all-inclusive resort with three themed restaurants for dinner and a buffet breakfast. You can also order meals at the pool side grill. I would rate the food as above average for a resort and the grill offered lots of sandwiches that were very good. Diving is offered at the resort but from what I saw they run more of a cattle boat operation, and I would not use them.
I have dived throughout the Caribbean, and have concluded that you will never see more fish life than what you will see in Cozumel, and this trip was no exception. We did 12 dives over 7 days and found the coral and sea life colorful and abundant. We did wall dives, drift dives, and he also took us through several swim throughs as well. On one dive we saw a large school of French grunts, several large green eels, large queen and grey angels, a turtle, a beautiful eagle ray, and lots of hard corals. On every dive you will see schools of fish, queen angels, grey angels, parrot fish, and lots of wonderful coral formations. There was not one dive that I thought was terrible. On several dives the current was somewhat strong but manageable, and if Luis found something he would tell us to duck down behind a coral to get out of the current, and then point out what he had found. If you want to see sharks, you will find nurse sharks frequently. All-in-all, it was a great trip and we plan on going back again either this year of the next.
