MY Oceanic

After her graduation my daughter and I were on the Oceanic for 9 nights. What a privilege and blessing to experience this adventure with her!

Before the trip all reviews were positive. I was a little skeptical but have to admit they were right! It is hard to imagine a more rounded diving experience.

The mantra “eat, dive, sleep” is spot on. Up to 4 dives a day, interspersed with occasional hikes on land offering colorful sunsets and Komodo dragons up close.

There are 3 meals a day, with dinner being a 3-course meal. The menu is varied but with an Indonesian focus. Hot tip: eat small portions, we all gained 2-3 kilograms in weight!

For me it were the small things and attention to detail that made this experience so special. Aircon in the cabins. Beds made by the crew each day. Maximum of 12 guests which makes it more intimate. Friendly and attentive crew where no request is too much. Many helpful hands to get diving equipment on and off the tenders. Hot outside showers after (not-cold) dives with heated towels. Coffee/ tea/ snacks/ fruit/ soft drinks throughout the day. Spacious shaded area at the back of the boat to relax and hang out. Knowledgeable and attentive dive masters. A carefully planned (but customized to the weather) route to show off the best the Komodo region has to offer.

There were a few creature comforts that we missed (no 24/7 WiFi, no washing clothes) but this was expected.

You can expect out-of-this world diving over healthy coral reefs, deep-blue seas, spectacular sunsets, great service, good food, smiling Indonesian faces, good sleep, plenty of relaxation.

I can highly recommend this live aboard experience.
