We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on the La Paz Underwater Photo Workshop trip to La Paz in 2019!
The local area was stunning and the underwater life mesmerizing. We loved all of the hotel and boat staff, and the food was delicious. The Bluewater staff was simply incredible at arranging accommodations, dives, and teaching us how to become better underwater photographers! The timing of our trip by the Bluewater Travel staff was impeccable. We were able to enjoy excellent conditions every day with no threat of inclement weather the entire week. Our favorite dive site by far was Los Islotes, packed with curious, energetic sea lions, abundant fish life, and even a great selection of macro subjects. You really couldn't go wrong with lens selection on this trip, although I stuck to wide angle to capture the sea lions frolicking and sun bathing. The wrecks were very entertaining and full of life too, but the visibility was sometimes less than ideal compared to other local dive sites we visited. Our hotel room was typical with comfy beds and a nice hot shower. As usual, the hotel could focus on improving amenities for scuba divers. To be fair, the hotel was not a dive resort, but we made the best of what we had to work with as far as drying gear and prepping cameras. With a fun-packed, long dive day and very informative evening photo workshops, we could have used more convenient (fast and close) choices for dinner. We were so busy with diving and learning that we were too exhausted to get out and see many of the local shops or scenery, but others mentioned a good selection of shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. We would definitely do this trip again. It's a perfect trip for underwater photographers!
